Yoga and Meditation are not the Same

Most of the people know what is the meaning of yoga, however, doesn’t know what does meditation mean, let's speak more in detail as to understanding the differences between both.

Mythologically the word “yoga” is an English mispronunciation of the Sanskrit word “yoga,”, that means being in a state of connected to the universal power that is supernatural, it is just a bodily enlightenment of bringing two entities together, forced to be closely in relation with your own world.

The word “Meditation” is also an English word means to be in a state of calm and silence in complete body and soul.

Most of us get confused that both are one and the same. However being in yoga is different from meditating for some time.

Yoga is a combination of asana or exercise that is related to stressing out the body and relaxing the mind.

Meditation is only and only deep state of silence that is related to relaxing body, mind, and soul which is quite difficult to do.

The practices of yoga have 8 steps involved which are called as Ashtangas.

1. Yama

2. Niyama

3. Asana

4. Pranayama

5. Pratyahara

6. Dharana

7. Dhyana

8. Samadhi

Meditation generally refers to clearing the mind making it subtle with no emotions and thoughts, called as the state of emptying the mind of all thoughts. This can be gradually increased by the duration of the lifespan in getting deeper into the stage of meditation.
